The lighting design was motivated by the dark world of the rich and powerful. I added a lot of contrast and movement to highlight the suspension and drama. The biggest challenge on location was the LAB office space, as it was mostly glass walls. The glass acted as a mirror, creating reflections everywhere. The original plan was to hang the lights from the ceiling, so as to avoid seeing reflections in every shot. However, after a number of tests, this was decided against as it looked too flat. Every successful shot we did get was therefore aimed at the perfect angle to avoid any unwanted reflections.
This scene starts with an interior day scene transforming into night. We only had 45 minutes to shoot the night scene and subsequently had to find the one shot that would communicate the story effectively, without relying on any unnecessary coverage.
